Palin to GOP Establishment: 'Get with It and Join Those Tea Party Patriots'

Following a speech she gave in Orange Beach, AL to the Baldwin County Republican Party on Friday, former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) sat down with Yellowhammer News’ Cliff Sims to discuss her role in the public’s eye and who to look at in the upcoming 2014 midterm elections.

Palin also discussed the divide in the Republican Party and had message for so-called establishment Republicans that disparage the Tea Party movement.

“They need to get on the side with Tea Party patriots who are working so hard as really independent individuals knowing that they have a responsibility in their own lives, in their own businesses, in their own local communities to do what is right. And then from there we grown that movement on a national level and we parlay the successes on that more local level nationally.”

“The Tea Party movement nationally is right,” she continued. “It’s full of just basic desire for the government to live within its means and abide by the Constitution. It’s not radical at all. So many in the Republican Party – kind of that establishment that has condemned those in the Tea Party movement: Simply put, they need to get with it and join those Tea Party patriots because that’s where the movement is.”

Seth Meyers did a bit last week.  It was him talking about how life was "back in his day."

He said "Back in my day there was no Tea Party...there were still insane right wing conservatives, we just didn't have a nifty short word for them."  The audience laughed heartily.  That is the perception of the Tea Party outside of the right wing.  The right wing's embrace of Cliven Bundy has set them further apart from average Americans still. The Tea Party needs a facelift and it ain't Sarah Palin.  We need a William F Buckly.  We need a face that can speak eloquently on conservative ideology on PBS, Jon Stewart, and Bill Mahers show.  I think our best voice right now is George Will, but recently he is not as sharp as he used to be.  We have many low brow voices like Hannity, Rush, Huckabee, and Palin.  We need to find a voice to convince college educated voters.

I personally like Sarah Palin.  I think she is intelligent and charismatic.  I agree with her on 95% of the issues, bUt 75% of America thinks she is a dunce.  Her image is damaged beyond repair.  If she wants to prevent rats from getting elected she should stick to reality TV.

BTW MAC, seeing where that pendulum is sitting right now gives me the feeling that Hillary may have some troubles ahead.

The left/Socialist wing of the Democratic Party have tasted blood, and they may see Hillary as too much of a centrist, and as a result someone who won't push hard enough to complete the part of their agenda that Obama failed to implement during his Presidency.

IF Warren steps into the race, she may suck enough votes from Hillary make her path to the Presidency not as "inevitable" as the press would have us believe right now, or even as inevitable as it was the last time she tried to get the nomination.

If Warren runs and fails to get the nomination, she may be so bloodied by the Clinton machine that her supporters won't turn out for Hillary.

If Hillary does what every candidate seeking their Party's nomination is supposed to do... run to the primaries to the left (base) of her Party, then try to go to the center once she's won the nomination, the center may very well think back to Obama and walk away from her because they are tired of a Demorat in the WH, not show up to vote at all, or show up in diminished numbers.

What the GOP needs to do is to not nominate an ideologue, or an bleep.

Huckabee leading in Iowa falls under the latter category, and a whole bunch of people qualify for the former.

Here's a prediction:

The Democratize agenda for the next election or two will be simply scaring the people about Republicans, and using class warfare and racial hatred to turn voters out.

I have a laundry list of issues that I am willing to sacrifice in order to nominate a winner. My question is whether the unappeasables are willing to do the same.

Why do the 75% think that? Who damaged her image? And why should we allow the people that did those things win?

The left wing blogs are rife with articles on Warren, but from what I've seen, they feel the best she can do is bring Hillary back to the left.  It fits well with your prediction, but if Warren won the nomination she couldn't realistically move to the center.  Hillary can.  IIRC both Hillary and Bill were members of the DLC, a moderate Democrat group.

But I agree that the agenda will continue to paint the GOP as racist, homophobic, misogynistic, hatred of the poor, etc.  It worked very well in 2012.  Obviously they have few successes to run on.  They're trying to rehabilitate their Obamacare image, which might work if one doesn't drill down.  How about  those 8 million jobs?  Works if one ignores all the jobs lost (I Lost jobs before I gained them).  Maybe they can run on all their foreign policy successes...Oops, maybe not.  So the best they can do IMHO is paint the scenario that they are less scary than the opposition.  And Hillary can probably do a better job of that than Pocahontas.
