Hey, remember when Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg walked off the set of The View because Bill O’Reilly had the gall to say that the 9/11 terrorists were Muslims?
Well, those two aren’t the only ones who have a problem with reality.
The tolerance police are taking issue with a brief documentary called “The Rise of Al Qaeda.” That documentary refers to the terrorists behind 9/11 as Islamists.
Gasp!
The documentary will be featured at a 9/11 museum that will soon open in New York City. It’s narrated by Brian Williams of NBC News and it offers a background of the perpetrators of 9/11. The film also states that the terrorists viewed their mission as a jihad.
Since all of that is totally accurate, it is therefore a foregone conclusion that the film is going to upset somebody. Truth has a funny way of being annoying.
Indeed, it has upset at least one Muslim imam.
“The screening of this film in its present state would greatly offend our local Muslim believers as well as any foreign Muslim visitor to the museum,” Sheikh Mostafa Elazabawy, the imam of Masjid Manhattan, wrote in a letter to the museum’s director. “Unsophisticated visitors who do not understand the difference between Al Qaeda and Muslims may come away with a prejudiced view of Islam, leading to antagonism and even confrontation toward Muslim believers near the site.”
So what’s his solution? Hide the truth so that people who are, as he puts it “unsophisticated,” might not be prejudiced? And when people ask, “Hey, why did those people fly planes into skyscrapers?” what’s the politically correct answer that we should give them?
Sorry, folks. The truth is that they claimed to be Muslim. Whether they were truly Muslim is a debate that we’ll leave to Islamic theologians.
In the meantime, let’s just tell the truth about them. The whole, cold, hard truth.
