With religious leaders protesting the use of the words "Islamist" and "jihad" in a seven-minute video at the 9/11 Memorial, conservative author Ann Coulter questions the immigration policy that even allows Muslims into the country.
"The terrorists themselves said they were good Muslims. They said they were engaging in jihad," Coulter said Thursday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity." "They said it was part of their religious obligation. Who are we as 'white imperialists' to tell them, no, that's not true Islam? I'm sorry, that's a fight among the Muslims."
The 9/11 terrorists themselves said they believe they were following true Islamic teachings when they flew airplanes into the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon, she said.
An interfaith group advising the National 9/11 Museum which will open next month in New York has asked for changes to a film that gives a history of jihad.
Sheik Mostafa Elazabawy, the imam of Masjid Manhattan, resigned from the Lower Manhattan Clergy Council in protest at the use of "jihad" and "Islamist." The group notes that those words are used by a majority of Muslims throughout the world without terrorist connotations.
But Coulter asked why Elazabawy is even in the United States.
Muslims in other countries are murdering Christians, she said, so why are they allowed into the United States to balkanize America?
"Instead of arguing about whether we're allowed to describe Muslim terrorists as 'Muslim terrorists' why don't we argue about whether it's a good idea to be letting in so many immigrants who then blow up the Boston Marathon?" she said.
