Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage.

“What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.”

“I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.”

This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively on Warren’s fraudulent claim during her 2012 campaign against Scott Brown. Warren falsely claimed Native American heritage when applying to teach at both the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Harvard Law School, and Harvard later cited her presence on staff as evidence of its faculty’s diversity. Warren claimed that she knew about her family’s alleged Indian heritage because a relative told her that her “papaw” had “high cheekbones, like all of the Indians do.”

Mark Stein was talking about her "heritage" and how she is one gazillionth Cherokee.  She gave a recipe to a native American cookbook which was from her native tribe.  She gave a recipe for some kind of crab dish.  As everyone knows, crabs run absolutely wild in Oklahoma and always have.

This has to be a joke. We cannot say the word 'redskins' because that is insensitive. But, we can accept a blue-eyed Liberal elitist claim that she is Black, when clearly she is not. This is a suburban White girl, who thought she could get ahead by claiming 'Blackness'. She is not Black! I don't care what she says.

A long time friend of mine is a full blooded Native American, originally from a tribe near the Four Corners area.

He prefers life OFF the reservation, where problems like alcoholism rule the day for many residents.

We share long term sobriety, and passions for running, biking, etc. With his permission I jokingly (and lovingly) call him "Chief."

It varies from tribe to tribe, and may also require computation on either the patrilineal or matrilineal side. Here, in New York, the District Attornies are required by law to represent Indian tribes on a variety of non-criminal matters, including evictions. And that's one area where this comes into play. From what I've read some tribes/tribal councils are using this to pare down the tribal rolls when it comes to casino money.
