"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Ms. Kimbrough has been badly misled. She might get racial preferences to get into college. But students with low scores like that rarely graduate. She could try to get racial preferences for college grades so she could eventually graduate - and, of course, that would mean racially based scholarships as well.
Then how does she get a job? A gov't job is probably the only way she can carry her racial preferences that far.

Why don't we just start giving her a gov't salary now, and save the college slot for someone who might get educated?

The ones I feel sorry for are the qualified minority students who will always have to work much harder to prove that they aren't there just because of their skin color. It's too often the rule that dark skin means unqualified for the current position.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.  In other words, for every action there is a consequence and the consequence of reduced standards will be increased scrutiny.  It would be like easing the standards to be a Navy SEAL for women; when they hit the fleet, they would be watched much more closely and be cut little slack.
