Dick Morris: US Must Keep Electoral College

Democrats are plotting to rig the presidential voting system to ensure that liberals win future elections, veteran political consultant and Newsmax contributor Dick Morris says.
"We must not abandon the Electoral College," Morris told Ed Berliner, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"The potential for Democratic states to allow non-citizens to vote would permanently make for a Democratic president," he said Tuesday.
In an exclusive column published Tuesday on Newsmax.com, Morris says Democrats, partly funded by liberal billionaire George Soros, are pushing laws in each state legislature that would force the state's electors to vote for the winner of the national popular vote.
The law has already passed in nine states, representing 135 electoral votes. It has passed one house in another 10 states, representing 107 electoral votes. That's a total of 242 electoral votes.
When the number hits 270, a majority of the Electoral College, that will effectively amend the Constitution, Morris writes.
"It means that if the Electoral College stays in existence, it's vestigial, it's an anachronism," Morris, once a top adviser to President Bill Clinton, told Berliner.
If the Popular Vote Movement succeeds, there would be nothing to stop Democrats from pushing non-citizens to vote, he said. That's because the Constitution does not require that the franchise be limited to citizens. It's up to the states.
"If the popular vote is all that matters, won’t many blue states bulk up their popular vote totals by letting non-citizens vote?" he said.
