A new poll from Public Policy Polling indicates that women in Texas are more likely to vote for Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott than Democratic candidate Wendy Davis.

Women preferred Abbott over Davis 49 percent to 41 percent.

Further, women gave Abbott a slightly higher favorability rating (35 percent) than Davis (32 percent).

But Davis had a much higher unfavorability rating (46 percent) than Abbott (27 percent), according to the women surveyed.

It turns out that perhaps advocating for abortion isn't a winning issue in Texas. It also appears that Democrats' attempts to claim to the GOP is waging a "war on women" are not working, at least in the Lone Star State.]
Abbott continues to hold a double-digit lead over Davis (51 percent to 37 percent) with seven months left until the election.

The April 10-13 poll of 559 registered voters had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
