Reggie Love on life after White House: ‘Like a drug to be out of there’

Posted By Betsy Rothstein On 3:39 PM 04/10/2014

President Obama‘s former body man Reggie Love is — ahem — loving life. Specifically, life outside the White House.

Thursday, The Mirror spotted him at lunch, dining al fresco at BLT Steak, a short sprint from the White House. If the 32-year-old was ever a tense, stressed out aide in a suit, you wouldn’t know it. He was relaxed, at ease, and sipping lemonade as he chatted away with what looked to be a longtime female friend, possibly a former coworker.

So, of course, The Mirror listened in.

Love left the Obama Administration in 2011 to earn his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. His job description at the White House has been described as anticipating and caring for Obama’s needs — a frantic job for anyone.

His attire reflected how chill he is now – a blue-and-white checkered button down over medium-brown twill trousers. Early on, he produced dark shades and appeared blissful after he put them on. “Ahhh,” he said after positioning them.

Soaking up the finally pleasant weather, the conversation eventually turned to Love’s time at the White House, which sounded a lot less pleasant.

Love compared working inside the White House to being on a sinking ship.

“I had this great journey, but I was just a passenger,” he told his dining companion. ”I was by no means steering the ship. I was bailing out the water.”

The restaurant’s employees seemed well-acquainted with Love. He made small talk with them about his golf game.

Occasionally, he let out a loud, delightful laugh in the warm, spring air.

Getting luckier by the minute, one of the waiters brought the pair surprise french fries they apparently didn’t order. This is BLT Steak, so a) they’re a beautiful specimen of sliced potato and b) not cheap. His main dish was salad with beautifully plump grilled shrimp. There appeared to be a mushroom side dish.

Does life get any better than this?

Love continued sharing highlights of life outside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“I love my life now,” he said. “I’ve never had this much flexibility in life ever – school, sports, working out, whatever. It’s craziness. If I wake up and want to go to LA, I can.”

He paused. And then, “It’s almost like a drug to be out of there.”

Discussion soon turned to a cute baby of a friend he’d visited.

“She’s not so cute that I want a baby myself,” he assured, even though his companion hadn’t asked.

I understand BO likes to use poppers to enhance the homosexual experience. Is that the drug of which Reggie speaks?
