I'm sure the Israelis are privately saying to themselves, "well hurry up and get the h*ll out of here; don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Quote
U.S. officials say Kerry had been blindsided by recent Israeli and Palestinian moves that had compromised undertakings made when they launched the latest round of talks aimed at ending their enduring conflict last July.

So why didn't the palestinians get a warning as well?

What's the urgency?  This is nothing but Kerry's vanity at work.

Obama/Kerry foreign policy having been a complete disaster - and laughingstock - everywhere else in the world, Effin' had to rush to the Middle East to browbeat the perpetual scapegoat, Israel.

Back in 1991 James Baker, SOS under Bush 41, was openly furious with Israel's continued settlement building because it "violated" US policy and derailed negotiations. Baker, testifying before the House was still pretty angry.  He said "EVERYONE" in the Middle East should know the White House telephone number (and then gave it out) and suggested "when you're serious about peace call us".  Baker then said Washington would have to give up trying to arrange Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

So this is not new.  We've spent the last 25 years wading through this quagmire.  And Israel is not a saint in this.  Israel does not want to see the State of Palestine recognized.  Period.   Why their leadership continues to play this shell game of negotiation used to baffle me; until someone reminded me there are at least four billion reasons a year.

Maybe it's time to again publish the White House number along with James Baker's infamous quote, collect our checkbook and wish them all well.
