Establishment GOP Takes Aim At Conservatives in Congress
« on: April 03, 2014, 03:28:22 pm »
The Republican leadership in Congress will be holding a fundraising retreat the weekend of April 11 to benefit the  George Soros supported Republican Mainstreet Partnership PAC.

There you have it. The Republican establishment in Washington, D.C., is in bed with George Soros and his many Socialist interests.

Syndicated columnist and author, Brent Bozell, has exposed the upcoming meeting on Amelia Island, Florida,  in a press release from his newly-formed "For America" 501(c)4 organization.

“Having the GOP leadership headline an event for a left wing organization funded by George Soros and Big Labor Unions, with a stated mission to destroy the conservative movement is stunning. The Republican Mainstreet Partnership PAC makes no bones about it.

Their stated goal is to ‘bolster our incumbents who are under attack from the far right, and ensure that we hold on to seats represented by pragmatic Republicans that we would otherwise loose [sic] if there was an ultra-conservative in the general runoff.’ And at their upcoming meeting on the ultra-exclusive Amelia Island in Florida, their announced headliners are GOP Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Whip Kevin McCarthy.

“These men, who claim to be ‘leaders’ of the Republican Party, know what they’re doing. They’ve joined forces with left-wing billionaires like George Soros against their own base. What they don’t seem to understand, however, is that they’re committing political suicide. It’s just a shame they are dragging down the entire Republican Party with them. Frankly, this is what the GOP deserves with leaders like these.

Someone tell me again why supporting the GOPe is our only option, and how it will make a difference?

how many voted for Obamacare?

And somehow, the Democrats got it passed. Is it not common to give cover to politicians for unpopular legislation that they all agree to pass?

The House controls the purse strings. While Holder selectively enforces laws, and Obama legislates with his pen, the House does nothing but try to figure out back door ways to pass amnesty.

the democrats got it passed because they controlled both houses of Congress - that is the sole necessary and sufficient reason, and any conspiracy theories regarding GOP acquiescence are utterly irrelevant.

Yeah, no conspiracies, no worries. They're all fine and up front folks right? I mean, they've been so hard hitting on fighting back right? When Ted Cruz had the audacity to actually oppose the status quo, the establishment did their best to give him enough rope, then pull hard on it in an effort to choke him.

And well all know the GOP would never allow Soros to direct any part of their efforts. I mean, that would be like letting the Koch brothers fund a DNC event!

Sliding amnesty into a defense bill... that's upfront and out in the open, right?

now you're just setting up a straw man argument.  as with all things, politics is a matter of degree, of shades of difference, it isn't binary.  Ted Cruz bears just as much blame as the moderates for the state of war between moderates and conservatives - it takes two to tango.

Fine. Let's talk current content. What do you think of the GOPe having a Soros funded event to plan their dealings with Tea Party types?

I have no use for the GOPe, I think they are as slimy as they come but, I do recognize they are still the majority. So, I will use them as necessary and fight to replace the republican base with conservatives whenever it makes sense to do so.

They are solid participants in every aspect of government that is wrong, including obamacare.
Do we still have runaway debt?
Do we still fund obamacare?
Do we.. oh well, maybe the point is made.

In some aspects, the Rockefeller Republicans are worse than the democrats.  They can make the Republican party an ineffective voice which the democrats cannot do.  They can sabotage and subvert Conservatives and Conservatism within the GOP, which the democrats cannot do.   They can create division within the party, which the democrats cannot do.  They can dampen enthusiasm of grass roots Conservatives like no one else.  They scream "electability" but if elected they only throw Conservatives an occasional bone to keep Conservatives on the master's plantation while embracing their donor's corporate interests.

Not all moderate republicans are Rockefeller Republicans.

Conservatives have got to sell their philosophy and quit crying victimhood at every turn. That gets old and predictable.

And the philosophy which conservatives "pitch" has to have broad enough appeal to win elections, and not merely push a few failed candidates into successful entertainment niche careers.

that is very true; however, moderates have to stop being such a$$es as well.  It goes both ways.

I would add that the moderates haven't been very good at selling their philosophy either, considering the results of the 2012 presidential election.

"...considering the results of the 2012 presidential election."

I'm not sure what to take from the 2012 election except the basic fact that fraud wins.

A statistic I'm not sure I understand..

2008..Voting Age Pop=229,945,000..Turnout=131,407,000.
2012..Voting age pop=211,731,000..Turnout=121,745,000.

Why after decades of consistent increased voting age population did it decrease from 229,945,000 in 2008 to 211,731,000 in 2012????
