And this is newsworthy - why?

'cause he "dresses up in costumes and participates in supernatural live-action role-playing games featuring vampires, werewolves, and gothic elements."

what's next, satanic worship?

Hey - I write D&D worlds (it's with a friend, she asks me to fine tune things). Got an entire novel out there about demons and the incredibly few that can slay them.

Who's going to judge a guy that plays dress up and has fun? Beats seeing under age prostitutes or getting so drunk you fall down and get amnesia.

No different than the people who go to Renaissance Festival/Faires and dress up.
"...And these atomic bombs which science burst upon the world that night were strange, even to the men who used them."  H. G. Wells, The World Set Free, 1914

"The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or rather of that party, not always the majority, that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections." -Lord Acton

Bang on. Though I slightly favor those who remember to bathe.

Yep, or Steampunk & Comic Cosplayers, Star Wars/Star Trek fans, Civil War reenactors, Cowboy Shooters, etc.  Not my cup of tea but I admire some of the craftsmanship they put into their hobby.

We could get up a game - assuming there are two more here who enjoy it.

Afraid I'm rather straight-laced. Even dressing up for Halloween makes me too uncomfortable.

What a politician does in his spare time doesn't bother me. What he does on the job does.

Personally, I have no problem voting for a guy who role plays.  It's perfectly normal behavior, and I am sure it' a lot of fun.  If I was running the campaign of his opponent, however, what I wouldn't give for a photo of him in his costume.  The copy writes itself: "In his fantasy world, Jake Rush imagines himself to be a blood-sucking predator.  Now he's running for congress."

I am waiting for people to start investigating candidates' identities on Second Life, World of Warcraft or Red Light District and outing them for how they play on the Internet.
