Jimmy Fallon mocks Obama’s supposed 7.1 million Obamacare sign-up triumph

Posted By Jamie Weinstein On 1:33 AM 04/02/2014 In | No Comments

If Jimmy Fallon was ever in the tank for President Barack Obama, he doesn’t appear to be anymore.

The host of NBC’s “Tonight Show” continued his comedic assault on Obamacare Tuesday night, mocking President Obama’s supposed triumph in signing up 7.1 million Americans on the Obamacare exchanges by the March 31 deadline.

“The White House says it has surpassed its goal for people enrolled in Obamacare. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you make something mandatory and fine people if they don’t do it and then keep extending the deadline for months,” Fallon quipped. “It’s like a Cinderella story. It’s just a beautiful thing. You make everyone do it.”

“If you still haven’t enrolled, you might have to pay a penalty called the ‘Individual Shared Responsibility Payment,’ which is 1 percent of your salary,” he continued. “Then Americans said, ‘hey, good thing I don’t have a job.’”

Though the White House announced Tuesday that 7.1 million Americans had signed up for insurance through the Obamacare exchanges, it remains unclear how many people have actually paid their first month premium required to actually enroll in their selected insurance policy. It is also unclear how many of those who signed up for an insurance policy through the Obamacare exchanges were previously uninsured.

There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.
Public virtue cannot exist in a nation without private, and public virtue is the only foundation of republics. There must be a positive passion for the public good, the public interest, honour, power and glory, established in the minds of the people, or there can be no republican government, nor any real liberty: and this public passion must be superior to all private passions. Good for Jimmy.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

May 3, 2016 - the day the Republican party left ME.  I am now without a Party, and quite possibly without a country.  May God have mercy!
