Utah election law reins in tea party
« on: March 31, 2014, 03:52:11 PM »
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Under the agreement, primary candidates can still be chosen, as they long have been, at party conventions, attended by just a few thousand delegates chosen at neighborhood meetings. But others can bypass delegates and appeal directly to voters if they collect enough signatures to make the ballot.
A fair deal, and one that is done elsewhere.
Those unaffiliated with a party, a big chunk of Utah's electorate, will also be allowed to vote in Republican primaries.
No open primaries.

That's how we end up with the lousy Presidential nominees. Democrats end up doing the picking for us.

I am so sick of the "Party Mentality".

I do not care a whit about any damned political party.

I care about our Constitution and all that it stands for.

I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery.  But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes:  If you bleep with me, I'll kill you all.

Marine General James Mattis, to Iraqi tribal leaders (Note: Mattis did NOT say "BLEEP". He threw the F Bomb)

I didn't enlist in the Corps just to watch my country become a Third World Communist Shit-hole. Don't know anyone who did.
