Poor buggers. The temperature goes up fast when you have that many people in that small a space and no power.

Wife had it once. They got diverted during a bad storm. The airport they diverted to (Fort Lauderdale? I think so but not sure) had a long enough runway to land on, but not take off again with a full load. It didn't have the ability to deplane the passengers or plug the plane in to the power grid - it's mostly for small planes and the runway is a relic of it being a designated alternate for fighters. It got hot in there, and there wasn't a lot of water left since it was 8 hours in to the flight. Eventually they opened a door - in the middle of winds up to 70 kph - and held it with extension belts, SEP belts, whatever they could find. The passengers wound up being removed 10 at a time on one of the catering hoists. Ones suffering from heat stroke went first.
The universe doesn't hate you. Unless your name is Tsutomu Yamaguchi
