First-hand video inside Oso landslide zone - Unbelievable
« on: March 29, 2014, 04:51:57 pm »
One week after the disaster the rest of the nation seems to have moved on with other news.

So how much mud swallowed up the Oso, WA?   They are saying this morning that  5 times the volume of the concrete in Hoover Dam, up to 40 feet deep in places and covering one square mile.    It may be impossible to excavate enough of it to find all of the 90 still missing.    And there are a thousand different ways that the searchers can get into serious trouble. Every pointy object imaginable is in that mud including kitchen knives and boards with nails, raw sewage, and leaking propane.

This video give you an idea of what it is like walking out there in the debris field.  Walking over the upside down car brings you back to reality that there are people and  what's left of over 40 homes under all of that.

It's hard to imagine what it must be like to be a landslide volunteer sifting through all the mud and debris. A KING 5 journalist was able to get a first-hand account of what it looked like Friday and captured it on video from some searchers.
