(CNSNews.com) – Sixty-three percent of the federal civilian workers who earned an annual salary of $100,000 or more in 2013 were men, according to data from the Office of Personnel Management.

An OPM database—FedScope—contains historical data on the federal civilian workforce going back to 1998. The database contains information about civilian federal workers employed by most Executive Branch agencies (excluding intelligence agencies, the White House, and the Office of the Vice President) and some Legislative Branch agencies. It does not include employees of the Judiciary Branch or congressional staff.

The database includes the numbers of federal workers at varying “salary levels,” set out in $10,000 increments ranging from “less than $20,000” to “$180,000 or more.”

63% of Federal Workers Earning $100K+ Are Men

As of September 2013, there were 474,630 federal civilian employees, covered by the OPM database, paid a salary of $100,000 or more. Of those, 300,221 or 63.3 percent were men, and 174,409 or 36.7 percent were females.

Historically, females have outnumbered males in the brackets among the federal civilian workforce earning $39,999 or less. In every year since 1998, in all brackets earning $40,000 or more, men have outnumbered women.

Male and Female Salary Levels

Since 1998, the first year in OPM database, the percentage of women in the federal workforce earning $100,000 or more has increased. But the rate of that increase has slowed during the Obama Administration.

From September 2009 to September 2013, the percentage of females earning a salary of six figures or more increased from 34.9 percent to 36.7 percent, averaging a yearly percentage point increase of 0.7.

From September 2001 to September 2008, the percentage of females earning a salary of six figures or more increased from 21.8 percent to 33.2 percent, averaging a yearly percentage point increase of 1.53.

Increase of Female Federal Workers Earning $100K+ Has Slowed

During the Obama presidency, the female share of the federal civilian workforce has declined, hitting a recorded low in 2013, according to the OPM database.

In September 2009, the year Obama took office, 44.3 percent of the federal civilian workforce was female. In 2013, it was 43.5%

Obama's war on women.

When does the Republican Party, put in the majority by the Tea Party, plan to honor its commitment to halt the growth of the Federal monolith and bring the budget back into balance"?

Reading the header, I just had to jump all over this!

"Federal" and "Worker(s)" are two terms that are mutually exclusive. The two should NEVER be used in the same sentence, under any circumstance!

Carry on.
I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery.  But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes:  If you bleep with me, I'll kill you all.

Marine General James Mattis, to Iraqi tribal leaders (Note: Mattis did NOT say "BLEEP". He threw the F Bomb)

I didn't enlist in the Corps just to watch my country become a Third World Communist Shit-hole. Don't know anyone who did.

Totally useless statistics. Unless we know what the job descriptions are and other factors like educational background, seniority, and locality (the gov't does pay premiums for hazardous locations), we don't have a clue as to why there are differences.

that hasn't mattered to the democrats or the federal agencies they currently control.

You are right. Women also miss more work, taking kids to doctors and maternity leaves. Many opt for jobs where they can take time off or jobs that are flexible. They also choose lower paying careers, like in the social fields.

474,000 people working for the federalies who make $100,000+?  That is an enormous amount of people making big bucks who add nothing to the economy.
