Obama is More Afraid of Matt Drudge than Vladimir Putin

Posted on March 25, 2014 by Gary DeMar Filed under Constitution, Government, Government Spending, Politics, Taxes

It all started when Matt Drudge tweeted, “Just paid the Obamacare penalty for not 'getting covered'... I'M CALLING IT A LIBERTY TAX.”

The White House and liberal pundits went crazy. Here’s how the crazies over at the Daily Kos tried to dismiss Drudge as irrelevant and ignorant:

“The penalty for not buying insurance isn't imposed until this year. Which means it doesn't have to be paid until taxes for this year are filed next year. The IRS says so: ‘You will make the payment when you file your 2014 federal income tax return in 2015.’”

Idiots. Taxes are paid this year even though the filing isn’t until next year. Drudge, like millions of other Americans (like myself), is self-employed. Self-employed people must anticipate what they’re going to pay next year for the current year. If we underpay, we will be charged interest and penalties. So if Drudge has a tax penalty due in 2015, he’s going to begin paying it this year because the penalty is a 2014 penalty.

Self-employed people pay their taxes that are due to be paid in the next year each quarter of the current year.

A Senate Budget Committee aide told Breitbart News, “It is true that thousands of small businesses will be forced to pay Obamacare taxes quarterly in 2014.” There's even a tax form that makes provision for the tax:

“[T]he IRS form (1040-ES) for estimating quarterly taxes specifically recommends adding the mandate penalty to line 12 for ‘other taxes’ — to pay before the first quarterly deadline of April 15.”

Obama and Co. did it this way so the penalty would not be paid by the majority of salaried employees until after the 2014 election.

This is why ex-KGB Putin is less of a threat to liberals than Matt Drudge. That’s why it’s necessary for liberals to level a frontal assault on Matt Drudge.

Matt Drudge is more powerful than Putin. The pen is more powerful than the sword. In this case, the internet is more powerful than any politician who has nukes at his disposal.

Theo Willem at the American Thinker understands how revolutionary the Fedora-wearing Drudge and his Drudge Report are:

“It is amazing how one man can have such an ability to know what is news, and how to make it headline news, instantaneous and world-wide, creating a domino-effect that in itself becomes news.  Matt Drudge has the ability to spot a diamond in the rough, and mostly it is hidden under the feet of a corporate journalist.

“The Drudge Report headlines alone are the best in the business and outwit all of its competitors, not to mention the selected pictures that accompany the story. . . [W]hen Drudge does turn on the siren, it lights up all over the world, awakening especially those in the offices of The New York Times, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc -- the ones that went to those prestigious journalism schools and who lecture a lot about credentials, credibility, and societal responsibility. . . Matt Drudge might well be the most powerful reporter in the English speaking world if not the entire world.  For years now he continues to run circles around the US news establishment, whose only hope is to keep checking what he is posting next.”

Remember, it was Drudge’s headline about the semen-stained blue dress that started it all. Where would we be without Drudge?

By the way, I believe everybody should have to pay taxes like the self-employed do. That includes both halves of Social Security. Many people don't know that whatever they are paying in Social Security (FICA) taxes and Medicare, their employer is paying an equal amount. Having to write a check every quarter for taxes is a wake-up call on what the government really steals from people who work for a living and then give freely to other people and nations.
