Quote
From dust to dust, people and cars come and go, but sometimes the old is reborn … and out of the dust emerges something immaculate.

A 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 428 Cobra Jet is a mouthful to say but it will drop any car enthusiasts jaw. This particular garage-find was owned and perfectly preserved by a now-deceased automotive connoisseur.

Larry never washed the car for fear of scratching the paintjob or cause even the slightest bit of rust. Yahoo News estimates that the only time the car was ever washed was before delivery. Accordingly, the car is in absolute show room condition, except for a layer of dust.

What a wild find!!!!!

That is awesome!!

That is one Ford that I would love to own!
I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery.  But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes:  If you bleep with me, I'll kill you all.

I didn't enlist in the Corps just to watch my country become a Third World Communist Shit-hole. Don't know anyone who did.

Why can't I ever find stuff like this?

Gremlin?  :silly:

as opposed to the pacer, the fishbowl on wheels?

When I was in high school there was a guy in the neighborhood who was 4 years ahead of me; he went to VT to study engineering, and one summer while he was still in college he and a friend managed to "shoe horn" a chevy 350 into a gremlin.  apparently gremlin firewalls will adapt to the loving "taps" of a sledge hammer, eventually.

Well - I could give you the Robin Reliant - totally accurate name. It would constantly be robin you of fuel and oil, and you could rely on it to break down if there was any sort of damp at all!

Nah though - '56 Mercedes 2 seater, gull wing. I saw one at a fair in 1962. Owner sat me in it, started her up, and you couldn't hear a thing, the engine was that quiet. Been in love ever since, just never had the spare price of a couple of houses to buy one.

You got short changed. Whoever sold it to you forgot the harness for the dinosaur to pull it!  :tongue2:

I remember as a kid we had a '65 Chevy. Massive thing. Mom used to have to drive bad and icy roads at 2 AM, and the weight helped. He lead foot also helped, she was clocked at over 120mph - fortunately by our next door neighbor at the time!

But she's the one for me - unless you got an idea where I can hunt up $140 million for my girl.

Bought one of these (1968 Dodge Dart GT Convertible) when I got back from Vietnam!

It would outrun anything on the highway but a service station!

to each his own.  it was a great car to learn basic mechanics on - the only real PITA with the slant six was getting to the distributor to clean and adjust the points, which was on the down side.  The slant six itself was a pretty rock solid block.  If I'd had the money I would have scrounged up a 340 block, trannie, rear end, and changed the front brakes to disc brakes, and I'd have had a killer little auto.

I also like the looks of it because it's fairly minimalist.  The body is basically a rectangular slab with a very vestigial fin at the back - just enough to emphasize the edge of the overall slab - and very basic shaping up front.

I've always wanted to drive one of those for the experience of tipping over at every corner.

It had something far worse than the tipping - a bag or two of sand in the back dealt with that.
