AURORA, Colo. β€” Two people have been arrested in a major illegal narcotic investigation that also included the seizure of 12,000 packets of the synthetic drug spice.

Dowinder Boparai and Seble Gebreegziadhair, both from Aurora, were arrested Tuesday.

Investigators said they were led to the duo after seeing a suspected drug engage between the two, said police spokesman Frank Fania.

Police arrested Gebreegziadhair, 28, and police recovered several hundred packets of suspected spice, Fania said. Boparai, 54, was also arrested.

Fania said police executed three search warrants and found storage facilities with spice.

Spice is designed to mimic marijuana. β€œIt is a psychoactive designer drug derived from natural herbs and sprayed with synthetic chemicals. It can be up to 800 times stronger than marijuana. It is an extremely dangerous drug, and an overdose with this drug is the official cause of death of at least one 15-year-old male in Aurora last summer,” Fania said.

Both suspects are being held on a $50,000 bond each. They are facing several drug-related charges, Fania said.

Spice?  I didn't know we were mining Arrakis yet.

:silly:

It's actually an ugly little so-called "designer drug" that goes by other names such as K-2.  The wiki article on synthetic cannabis covers it nicely.

It's ugly because it has a greater propensity for causing psychotic behaviour.  As per the Weekly Vice:

Michael Daniel Redefined Phrase "Dog Eat Dog" - Charged With Killing, Eating Dog During Bad K-2 Trip

Waco, TX (The Weekly Vice) - Michael Terron Daniel, a 22-year-old Texas man was jailed Monday after he allegedly began eating the family dog while high on K-2.

According to police, officers were dispatched Monday evening after receiving a report of a disturbance at a Waco residence. The caller told 911 operators that a man was "going crazy" and begged the dispatcher to "please hurry."

Officers arrived on the scene to find Daniel sitting on the front porch with a dead dog on his lap. The dog had obvious signs of severe trauma and officers found blood and dog fur on Daniel's hands.

Family members inside the home told detectives that Daniels assaulted several people inside the home, then chased a neighbor while barking and growling like a dog.

Daniels then grabbed the family dog, beat it and then strangled the animal to death. The moments that followed were even more graphic.

Witnesses day Daniels complained that he was having a bad K-2 trip and that it was killing him. That's when he allegedly began to bite into the dog, ripping pieces of the dog's flesh away. The dog died at the scene.

Daniels appeared incoherent when interviewed by police at the scene. He asked officers to Tase him or fight him to help "get him off his bad trip."

He was transferred to a local hospital for treatment.

Daniels was booked into jail and charged with felony animal cruelty.

So!  Is that what Reid and Pelosi have been getting into, causing their psychotic behaviors? :silly:
