Obamacare Architect Emanuel: Most Employers Will Drop Health Coverage

One of the designers of Obamacare is predicting in his new book that what the Obama administration fears most -- that companies will begin to drop insurance coverage for employees at a greater rate -- is about to materialize.
Ezekiel J. Emanuel, one of the architects of the Affordable Health Care Act, predicts there will be a shift soon with large, national companies breaking the mold and ceasing to offer employees coverage, according to The New York Times.
In his new book, “Reinventing American Health Care: How the Affordable Care Act Will Improve Our Terribly Complex, Blatantly Unjust, Outrageously Expensive, Grossly Inefficient, Error Prone System," he xpects that the number of Americans getting health insurance from employers will drop to 20 percent by 2025, from today's 60 percent margin.
“It’ll be a matter of a few big employers, blue-chip companies,” Emanuel, who is also the brother of Rahm Emanuel, Chicago mayor and former Obama chief of staff, told the Times. “Then it’s going to be the norm.”
The Obama White House, meanwhile, says there is no evidence to suggest such a shift is about to happen.
According to The Times, many health care experts agree this would be a good thing, giving more choice to Americans over healthcare options.
