The Official End of “If You Like Your Doctor, You Can Keep Your Doctor.”
My first thought was, he lied in every word.

Via Mark Knoller, WebMD has posted a video of an interview of Obama consisting of questions asked by WebMD users about Obamacare. Notably, in this interview, Obama was finally forced to concede what conservative health policy wonks have been saying since before the bill was passed – that under Obamacare, you might not be able to keep your doctor if you like your doctor.

Pres Obama concedes ObamaCare enrollees “might have to switch doctors," but he says the trade-off is they're "gonna save money."

Recall that one of the main selling points of Obamacare to the general public was that people who were currently happy with their healthcare arrangements would not be forced to change anything. The two key central pillars of this promise, repeated over and over and over, were that if you liked your plan, you could keep your plan – and that if you liked your doctor, you could keep your doctor. The untimely demise of “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan” has already been covered ad nauseam here, and has already forced Democrats to attempt a number of embarrassing fixes. Now, Obama has finally been forced to concede that neither of the promises upon which Obamacare was built were true.

The explanation offered by Obama here is of course laughable. As millions of healthcare consumers around the country remain stunned by sticker shock of higher costs associated with lower quality healthcare plans than what they previously had, Obama actually has the gall to tell them that they should feel okay about losing their doctor because they are paying less (or more, whichever, HHS doesn’t keep track of that information).

Of course, hidden in the video was another major concession:

Obama: 'if you're in the middle of life-saving treatment, we'll work to make sure you keep that treatment' http://www.webmd.com/health-insurance/video-access-to-care

Here then is the implicit recognition that it might not be the case that healthcare consumers would be able to keep that treatment. For those who will recall the promises upon which Obamacare was sold, this is yet another broken promise. One of the primary purposes of Obamacare was theoretically to stop insurance companies from being able to drop insureds based upon high usage conditions like cancer or diabetes. Turns out that’s not something we can depend on anymore either.

As promises continue to be broken and benefit after benefit of Obamacare dissolves away, the American public is left to ask – what good, exactly, is Obamacare doing anyone?
