Okay.....they claim a bomb hidden in a shoe would be used to breach the cockpit door.

....then they say the pilot was in on it?

Supergrass - informer?

A Grass is an informer.

A Supergrass is a well connected informer.

Say you got sick of crackheads coming into your neighborhood and phoned a tip in to the police about who was dealing. You'd be a grass.
The dealer, who knows his suppliers and their routines, could be turned and become a grass too.
Someone higher up the chain, who knows the details of not just importing but distribution and money laundering gets turned, he's a supergrass.

Then there is always the possiblity the government types knew it was a hijack all along and didn't want to give the bad news to the sheep.  It might be time for plane manufacturer's to build in detonating devices for just such emergencies.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

The Chinese Government is alleging that the Malaysians are holding back on a whole lot more than they are willing to admit.  That is one of the major drivers in this crisis.

I have more inclination to believe the Malayan government than the Chinese. After all, the Uighurs have become an annoyance recently in China.

Can you imagine the intricacies of a plot like this?

Glad we got the interpretation. I thought it was referring to the Seattle Hempfest

The authorities may have - or at least seriously suspected it - but may not have divulged that view immediately in order to prevent the putative hijackers from realizing that it was known to be a hijacking; would have made it a bit easier for them to be caught.

I'm remembering all the warnings of airplane highjackings or bombings during the Sochi Winter Games. The U.S warned airlines with direct flights to Russia to be aware of possible of explosive materials smuggled on board, hidden in toothpaste or cosmetic tubes.    It leads me to believe we knew something was in the planning stages, but for some reason the plot was pushed out to a later date probably due to the  heighten security at the time.

Good points.  There is a real high-stakes chess match going on, isn't there?  This thing is completely in play.

Great points.  The Russians have been on high alert for months because of Sochi, which is one of the reasons why they were able to intervene in Ukraine and Crimea so quickly.  They have already had multiple terrorist attacks in their own country from their own home-grown Muzzie extremists.

But people forget that much of the Indonesian Archipelago is heavily Muslim and has been breeding its own varieties of Muslim extremists for well over 125 years.  Bandar Aceh, the site struck off the map by the Indonesian tsunami was once a hotbed of Muslim extremists, and it took the tsunami to finally quash the violence in that district.  This is an entirely different breed of Muzzie terrorist and they do things in their own extreme ways...
