Man Charged with Manslaughter for Shooting Armed Robber

New York State is hurtling at lightning speed towards the inevitable destruction that is the fascist nanny state.

They have long been one of the worst offenders of our rights in the nation, and in recent days they have begun taking their attacks on liberty to a whole new level. Whether it was Mayor Bloomberg’s assault on the evil MSG and the deadly Big Gulp, or Governor Cuomo’s pronouncement that conservatives, the religious, and anyone who believed they had rights enumerated in the Constitution should stay out of New York. New York had also set its sights on gun owners by passing the SAFE Act which would have all but guaranteed that lawful gun owning citizens would now become criminals – simply for exercising their guaranteed Second Amendment right.

Now the state has begun actively attacking her citizens.

Via Long Island News:

A Huntington Station man has been indicted on manslaughter charges for shooting an alleged home burglar who later died, but his attorney says it’s a clear case of self-defense.

Youssef Abdel-Gawad says a man with a gun was attempting to break into his Huntington Station home back in August. His family shared surveillance video of the incident with News 12 Long Island, and in it, the alleged burglar is seen trying to enter a door. The burglar then pulls out a gun, and a flash is seen that appears to be the burglar firing a shot into the home.

Youssef Abdel-Gawad’s attorney says he came to the door with a rifle and returned fire at the burglar and his alleged accomplices, striking one of them. The accomplice later died.

That’s right – armed intruders kicked in the door to his home and flashed their guns – but somehow the government of New York State has decided he was the bad guy. This is what happens when we let liberals run things. They’ve gotten so gung-ho anti-gun they’ve lost all of their connection to reality and are actually rewarding crime and punishing good.

He'll probably get off, but the indictment should never been brought in the first place.

No one exercises judgment in this maze of bureaucracy called government. It's a mindset foisted on society by fear of litigation, of being sued because rules weren't followed. There's a dead body so someone must pay.

In Houston a father shot and killed a 17-year-old boy he found in his daughter's bedroom under more ambiguous circumstances then this NY case and even he, prosecutors said, will not be charged.

In New York, as in Britain, self-defense is illegal.
