Another 4,000 Clinton pages to be released

A second batch of 4,000 pages of records from former President Clinton’s White House are slated to be released Friday.
The records ranging from the 2000 presidential recount in Florida to documents related to terrorism in the decade before 9/11 will be available online at the Clinton Presidential Library at 1 p.m.
The documents are a portion of more than 30,000 pages of records recently approved for release. Certain White House documents can be withheld for 12 years after a president leaves office. Clinton and President Obama were allowed to conduct a privileged review before the records were made public.
The release comes as Hillary Clinton determines whether to run for president in 2016. Early polling has shown she is the early favorite for the Democratic nomination as well as the general election.
The first release last month revealed efforts by Hillary Clinton’s team to manage her image while she was first lady and some of her comments about healthcare reform.
The 4,000 pages to be released Friday cover more than 50 topics, including the Florida recount, former Vice President Gore’s presidential campaign and the subsequent transition to the George W. Bush administration.
A number of Hillary Clinton’s speeches are covered.
The general area of terrorism is included as well, specifically the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia that killed nearly 20 American soldiers.
The genocide in Rwanda is also covered.
Notes from speechwriters and members of the president’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board are included.
One of the most intriguing topics covers “records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.”
The Associated Press points out that Clinton signed a law in 1992 enacting a review board to oversee the release of the records related to the assassination. Millions have already been made public.
