On Wednesday, Gallup released a new poll showing that Americans rank Democrats’ and Republicans’ apparent top priorities – climate change and illegal immigration -- extraordinarily low on a list of their top worries.

Just 24 percent of Americans say that they worry a great deal about climate change – an issue upon which Democrats spent 15 hours overnight on Monday on the floor of the Senate. A full 51 percent of Americans said they didn’t care at all about climate change.

Only 31 percent of Americans say they worry a great deal about the quality of the environment; just 33 percent say they worry a great deal about illegal immigration. And as for race relations – an issue everyone in the Obama administration seems to have warned about – just 17 percent of Americans worry a great deal.

Meanwhile, 59 percent of Americans say they worry a great deal about the economy, 58 percent of Americans say they worry about federal spending and the budget deficit. Another 57 percent of Americans say they worry a great deal about the availability and affordability of healthcare. Americans’ next two priorities: unemployment, the size and power of the federal government.
