GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel March 7, 2014 — In his fascinating book, “I Wear the Black Hat”, Chuck Klosterman defines a villain as the person that, “in any situation, knows the most but cares the least.” It is safe to assume that doing the least is tantamount to caring the least, and thus, one who knows the most but takes no action would be a villain, as well.

Regarding their interaction with the radical Islamic regimes of the Middle East, US President Barack Obama and US Secretary of State John Kerry, men with access to more information on the subject than nearly anyone else in the world, are doing the least.

No sane person could honestly believe that Obama and Kerry’s’ pathetic love-affair with toothless diplomacy will influence the fate of the region positively in any way.

They are wrong when insisting that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is Israel’s last great chance at peace and that Israel must be forced to agree to this at all costs. They are equally incorrect in the assessment that the West should experiment with diplomacy to deal with the nuclear-weapons-pursuant Ayatollah-run establishment in Teheran.

If America’s current utopian foreign policy could be proven foolish by an early-morning raid by the Israeli Defense Force, a story surely no American news outlet will even bother covering, then it had very feeble legs  to stand on to begin with.

Early Wednesday morning, the Israeli navy intercepted a ship in the Red Sea that was bound for the Gaza Strip. The captured vessel was found to be carrying an Iranian weapons shipment on its way to the Strip. According to the IDF, following an initial sweep of the ship, the soldier discovered several dozen advanced Syrian M-302 missiles, with a range of up to 125 miles and a payload of up to 375 pounds. The missiles were hidden in shipping containers also carrying sacks of concrete. The ship had reportedly set sail from Iran 10 days before.

Instead of acting like the superpower they think they are, admitting that they had been wrong in their approaches to Iran until now, and taking measures to reverse course before it’s too late, the Obama Administration’s limitless arrogance and ideological zealotry once again got in the way of rational policy.

Obama’s mouthpiece, Jay Carney, told reporters Wednesday that talks were still “appropriate” to try to reach a deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program.

One would think that assessing this seemingly run-of-the-mill raid by the IDF with an Occum’s-Razor-like eye shouldn’t have proven too difficult to the great and mighty Obama crew, but saving face is clearly a higher priority than global security for Barack and Co.

When does the Republican Party, put in the majority by the Tea Party, plan to honor its commitment to halt the growth of the Federal monolith and bring the budget back into balance"?

In President Obama’s sadly expected hit-job on Netanyahu while the PM was airborne, en route to the White House, the interviewer, Bloomberg columnist Jeffrey Goldberg noted that,

Quote
Obama made it clear that he views Abbas as the most politically moderate leader the Palestinians may ever have. It seemed obvious to me that the president believes that the next move is Netanyahu’s.

“I believe that President Abbas is sincere about his willingness to recognize Israel and its right to exist, to recognize Israel’s legitimate security needs, to shun violence, to resolve these issues in a diplomatic fashion that meets the concerns of the people of Israel. And I think that this is a rare quality not just within the Palestinian territories, but in the Middle East generally…In that kind of environment, where you’ve got a partner on the other side who is prepared to negotiate seriously, who does not engage in some of the wild rhetoric that so often you see in the Arab world when it comes to Israel, who has shown himself committed to maintaining order within the West Bank and the Palestinian Authority and to cooperate with Israelis around their security concerns — for us to not seize this moment I think would be a great mistake.”

If, Mr. President, Abbas was honestly sincere about making peace, would he be allowing long-distance missiles to fall into the hands of the extremist Hamas regime?

Barack Obama and John Kerry are certainly among those who know the most about the current situation in the Middle East. If they continue to do nothing, or worse, willingly or unwillingly help strengthen radical Islam, then they are villains plain and simple and should be labeled as such for posterity.
