If You Want to See What Liberal Paradise Looks Like – Go to Prison

Joe Arpaio is known as America’s Toughest Sheriff, a title “given to him years ago by the media. It’s a name he certainly has earned as head of the nation’s third largest Sheriff’s Office which employs over 3400 people.”

“In 1992, Arpaio successfully campaigned to become the Sheriff of Maricopa County. Since then he has been reelected to an unprecedented six 4-year terms. During his tenure as Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arpaio has consistently earned high public approval ratings.”

Joe Arpaio takes a no nonsense approach to dealing with criminals. “For example, he banned smoking, coffee, movies, pornographic magazines, and unrestricted TV in all jails.” The prisoners have to work, essentially paying for their prison time.

“In addition to these tough measures, the Sheriff has launched rehabilitative programs like ‘Hard Knocks High,’ the only accredited high school under a Sheriff in an American jail, and ALPHA, an anti-substance-abuse program that has greatly reduced recidivism.”

Here’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s description of a liberal paradise. He sees them every day:

“A liberal paradise would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment, free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing, free clothing, free utilities, and only law enforcement has guns. And believe it or not, such a place does, indeed, exist.

“It's called prison.”

In prison everything is free except the prisoners.

Liberals (and too many conservatives) believe that government programs designed to help the poor are a one-way street to paradise. Maybe if they can make it a little bit like prison, the people receiving the benefits won’t notice.

Even the Swiss have fallen for it, wanting to guarantee everybody in the tiny nation “2,500 Swiss francs — about $2,800 — per month from the state, with the aim of providing a financial safety net for the population.”

The people will get to vote on the referendum.

That’s like asking the sheep and wolves, with the wolves in the majority, to vote on what’s for lunch. Where’s the money going to come from? The State doesn’t have any money. It must either tax the people or create it out of thin air.

Either way, it’s stealing. Voting for politicians to take money from some people so it can be given to other people is not only a disincentive to work; it’s outright larceny. It’s the type of economic policy that has created regimes like we’re seeing in Venezuela. A larcenous tipping point will be created where the most productive people will take their trade elsewhere where there’s more economic freedom.
