Vladimir Putin warns of Nazi elements in Ukraine

BY CHARLIE SPIERING | MARCH 4, 2014 AT 7:41 AM

Russian President Vladimir Putin signaled during a press conference Tuesday that he was only trying to bring stability to Ukraine after protests led to the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovych, warning about the danger of Nazi elements in opposition forces.

Putin warned that a nationalist figure could rise to power in such moments, reminding reporters of Nazi units who helped Adolf Hitler take power before World War II.

Boy, his offense is firing on all cylinders.  As much as I detest Putin and what he's doing, I have to admit that he is currently the unparalleled master of geopolitics.  That doesn't mean that his success is inevitable, only that he is much more likely to win than he is to lose.

The question is: Is this propaganda or real? Is Putin 'less' communist than the communist he defeated in election?

It's propaganda - real propaganda.

Wow.  Rumors of a phone call between Merkel and Putin with Merkel was reduced to screaming at Putin and asking if he's still sane must be true.   :smokin:

I have doubts of Putin's sanity; however, just because someone's insane, that doesn't mean they're stupid.

The grain of truth in it has to do with the fact that there was a large contingent of neo-nazis that joined the peaceful protestors in Kiev and instigated the changeover to the violence.  They brought the supplies for the molotov cocktails and the live ammo.....  it was an interesting strategy, the pretty girls with the iPhones up front and the skin heads in the back hurling the bombs....

Looks like Putin preempted the use of the word Nazi against all of his foes, especially to Hillary's chagrin.  Putin is lan absolute diabolical....genius.

Others have said that while Obama is playing checkers, Putin is playing chess. Using the "Nazi" imagery and label often works.

This thing is basically a done deal; it only remains to be seen if more of Ukraine falls into Russian influence and control.

Sounds like something Soros would do.

I certainly do wonder, haven't heard of any reliable story on it...

I does sound like something that would be in his wheelhouse, but I'm not sure at all.
