KunmingThis report from Straits Times says the attackers were “unidentified armed gunmen,” and adds: “One of the Weibo users said she saw a group of men in black, chasing people with two long knives.” At LiveLeak (thanks to a) there are many photos taken in the immediate aftermath of the attack (warning: some of them quite graphic), with the heading: “Seems to be happening right now. Uighurs fighters/muslims attacking civilians.”

“27 dead, 109 injured in Kunming railway station attack,” from Straits Times, March 2:

KUNMING – Unidentified armed gunmen reportedly stormed a railway station in Kunming, capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province, yesterday, leaving 27 dead and at least 109 injured, reports said.

Few details were available of the attack.

Pictures circulating on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, showed bodies splattered with blood on the floor. Medical attendants can be seen taking patients to a local hospital and police patrolling the station, Xinhua said.

One of the Weibo users said she saw a group of men in black, chasing people with two long knives.
