NEVER HIRE A MUSLIM Reason #114: Obama sues to allow Illinois Muslims to refuse to perform their designated job for religious reasons and not get fired

images-23So, according to the Obama administration, if you are a Muslim in Illinois who signed a contract to work for a company, but you find that you just don’t want to do something your boss tells you to do, why, you just don’t have to do it. Oh, and if you are fired for refusing to do the work you contracted to do, why, Obama will sue your employer for you.

Publius by Warner Todd Huston  This is what has happened in the Land Of Lincoln with the US Government vs the Star Transport trucking company. A couple of Muslims signed a contract to work for a trucking company, a contract that says that drivers will take any load that a company administrator assigns and will deliver that payload. Period. The terms of employment are known ahead of time among all employees.

But a couple of Muslims for Star Transport found out that their boss was going to ask them to transport a load of alcohol–a job that everyone knows the company has–and these Muslims refused to take the load because: religion.

The Obama administration is suing the trucking company for violating these Muslims’ freedom of religion because after they refused to take the load as per the contract they signed, they were properly and logically fired.

Of course, there is nothing in Islam that would prevent a Muslim from transporting alcohol. Some Muslims say that drinking alcohol violates their religious tenets, but no one was demanding they drink it and their transportation job would not be for their consumption. It is for other Americans’ consumption.

19265689_SA

Their refusal had nothing at all to do with their personal religious needs and is nothing more than another Muslim attempt to enforce on all Americans a sharia-like ban on alcohol. After all, taken to its logical extreme, the transportation of all alcohol would have to be banned just to avoid “offending” some wandering Muslim.

Protest_Neb

In the mean time, Obama and his fellow leftists are forcing Christians to cater to gays even though they say that doing so violates their Christian religion, Obama is trying to force Churches and Christian organizations to pay for contraceptives and abortions, and Obama is calling Christians haters and bigots for wanting to follow their religions.

So, Muslims can refuse to do work claiming religious objections and escape from being fired for their refusal and that is freedom of religion, but if Christians try anything similar, they are attacked, called names, and forced to violate their religion anyway under penalty of law.

abercrombie6-11

So, now, as far as Obama is concerned, a Muslim can get a job here in the US, then claim he wants to stay employed even though he doesn’t want to do any of the work and Obama will force businesses to comply, because: Islam. In Obama’s America, employers will have to pay Muslims just to be Muslims.

No wonder people think Obama is a Muslim.

"The Tea Party has a right to feel cheated.

When does the Republican Party, put in the majority by the Tea Party, plan to honor its commitment to halt the growth of the Federal monolith and bring the budget back into balance"?

what's the difference between these people and the baker who refused to make a cake for a gay couple because of religion?

Separation of church and state.  The government is suing for religious reasons which makes it unconstitutional to begin with.

huh?  the government has been given the basic power to enforce anti-discrimination laws as between private parties.

If they have a problem delivering alcohol because of their religion they need to find a job that does not ever deliver alcohol.

It would be like a Catholic that refuses to deliver satanic symbols and blood chalices with the devils name on them. Too bad so sad, find another job.

Why shouldn't a person who holds himself out to the world as being a baker bake a cake for whomever and be done with it.

I'm sorry, I tend to agree that these buffoons signed a contract and they knew full well ahead of time what might happen; but I also don't care for hypocrisy, and there is some when it comes to Christians vs. Muslims.

Also the point to this entire thing is Obama and his alphabet gov. run agencies seems to only sue when it is a muslim teacher that wants ramadan off or a muslim whining he won't do his job in delivering booze.

If this guy were Jim O'Casey that complained of not getting paid time off for Good Friday and Saint Paddy's day and did not like delivering satanic cult supplies, would any agency of the government AKA of Obama, be suing? I think not.

The issue of partiality in enforcement is logically distinct from the disparate treatment afforded Christians and Muslims in many quarters.

You keep equating the bakery owner not baking a cake for gays to this and it is apples and oranges.

As you said, this muslim knew when he signed a contract/took the job that he would deliver whatever was asked of him.

The bakery owner signed no contract to bake for anyone in particular. Businesses have signs up that say 'we reserve the right to refuse to serve.' It is his bakery. This is a poor comparison to the muslim booze driver.

And, with all due respect, I think there are very, very few people, even here, who would feel the same if a pro-life Christian driver found himself asked to drive abortifacients to an abortion clinic.

If this were the case in question we are discussing. I would say the same thing, too bad so sad. He would have had to known he was delivering' abortifacients' if he does not like it he should have never signed a work contract or shook the owners hand and taken the job. So he nor any government agency would have any basis in suing if he lost his job for refusing literal delivery of abortifacients, IMO.

I don't know the specifics of any of these cases, but to me there is a difference in just "baking a cake" for someone - I think very few people would have a problem with that - and having to "decorate a cake" with a specific theme that a lot of people might find offensive to their religious beliefs.  I'm sure there are bakers that would refuse (and be able to do so legally) to make a pornographic cake (and I've seen those out there).

The same with photographing a wedding, to photograph a ceremony is one thing, but to have to photograph the various forms of "revelry" that may ensue after the ceremony is quite another thing and could be offensive to one's beliefs.  I've been to parties given by some of my gay friends and there comes a point where I leave because it starts getting disgusting to me.

I think some of these stories about bakers refusing to bake, and photographers refusing to photograph, are leaving out some of the details (and the devil is in the details).

should motel owners be allowed to refuse service to blacks because whites might not stay at their motels if they knew that blacks had stayed there?

Then the same result should be applied as is being applied to the Christian baker.

Why shouldn't this "accommodation" be given to bus drivers and train drivers also?  Why should THEY have to tolerate something their muslim brother taxi drivers don't?

Tit for tat.

"This business reserves the right to not serve"

That is really stretching it thin in looking for a fair argument. There are laws out regarding discrimination regarding race, that clearly trump the 'refuse to serve.'  It gets into the grey area of discussion that is hard to argue but we could for days on end to no result in satisfying all.

The gay cake stuff is ridiculous. Order a damned cake do not tell them who you prefer to sex with and then go on the internet if you have to and order the two grooms thing that goes on top of the cake.

Muslim taxi drivers and businesses have a long history of not serving people with seeing eye dogs.

http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2005/11/muslim-taxi-drivers-vs-seeing-eye-dogs

Is it legitimate for them to do this also?

Since I'm willing to bet there are very few - to none - hotels owned by Aryans, that situation is non-existent.  Just another racist red herring to distract from the religous issue.

Muslim taxi drivers can and will boot you out the cab for any reason, it is okay and done daily in NYCity. I believe the same should apply to someone wanting a product (a 'gay' wedding cake), that is not the norm. If I wanted something that wasn't the norm I would find a way to buy it and not make a federal case over it. BTW: what is a gay wedding cake? There is no such thing. There are gay wedding toppers and if a particular bakery does not order two groom toppers or have any, find one that does. If I were the bakery I would order the gay wedding topper for them and charge them the money I lost in the special order. What is the big deal? The big deal is some refuse to order the gay wedding topper nor choose to have it ordered regularly. Who knows maybe only specialty stores have this gay topper? Some could say, they have been in business for 28 years and don't do that specialty order- I am set in my ways, sorry. That is their right just like the muslim taxi driver can boot you from his cab for whatever reason he sees fit.

An employer should have the right to get rid of an employee that refuses to do his job according to his job description. The very fact of accepting a job says that you want to do the job. Religious rights has nothing to do with this and stop pretending it does. Obama's suing is so outrageous and anyone who thinks differently has no common sense. This is not a freedom of religion issue but Obama and the liberals are screwing around with Christians freedoms left and right. They are allowing Muslims who belong to a cult not a religion get a by pass and if it continues we will have more trouble than you can imagine. Look at the countries they are busy infiltrating and causing trouble and attacking and killing all those who won't become part of Islam around the world. If you have common sense you know they are getting ready to attack and kill infidels here soon. You who think we should pretend they are a religion and treat them accordingly will probably be the first to be beheaded. Even on this forum there are very naive people who haven't done their homework.

Good posting. An employee can be terminated (fired) at any time. If the muslim does not like hauling booze hit the road! But we have government agencies fighting for faux rights in a truck driving company and the teacher that wanted ramadan off.  CAIR dictates to Obama and Holder grabs his big guns and sues. That is the travesty!
