OAKLAND (FOX 11 / AP) - Gov. Jerry Brown touted his record on jobs and education as he formally filed for re-election, responding to the campaign themes of a Republican opponent.

Neel Kashkari, a former U.S. Treasury official who oversaw the bank bailout, is challenging Brown by focusing almost exclusively on creating jobs and improving education.

Brown spoke to reporters Friday as he formally filed papers in Alameda County to run for re-election. He says California has added nearly 1 million new jobs, raised the minimum wage and boosted vocational training under his watch.
