Major Updates in Justina Pelletier Case: Lawmakers Get Involved, Teen Will Not Be Transferred to Foster Care
Feb. 26, 2014 11:47pm Jason Howerton

Massachusetts lawmakers are getting involved in the Justina Pelletier case and have begun circulating a resolution asking the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to initiate the process of releasing the teenager to her parents.

State Reps. Marc Lombard and Jim Lyons, both Republicans, announced on Wednesday that 12 representatives have already signed on to support the resolution.

“The self-stated goal of the Department of Children and Families is to strengthen the link between families. Removing a child from her family is reserved for only the most egregious circumstances where evidence of malicious intent, negligence or the blatant inability to care for the child is present. No such findings are present in this case,” Lombardo said in a press release.

Lyons argued the Pelletier case is a “dispute between conflicting medical opinions” and treatment decisions should be left to parents, not DCF.

“The Department’s heavy-handed, unjustified interference with the rights of these parents is an example of what is wrong with this agency,” he added.

The resolution will be brought up at the next meeting of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, MyFoxBoston.com reports.

When they wheeled her into court this week her shirt happened to rise up and her parents spotted a nasty red line running toward her port - this is sepsis and no one supposedly treating her in the hospital had even taken note of this and she was not being treated with antibiotics... the dad spoke out about what he saw and "supposedly" she is not receiving antibiotics for this - but if it had continued sepsis will kill her.  This child walked into the hospital - over a year in their care and she is now paralized from the waist down.

Great news!

The whole thing is a miscarriage of justice!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

If this is the same case as I am thinking. The above, plus the fact that she did not improve in the year she was separated from her parents. Which proves the parents did not make it up for attention.

The MD that claimed the parents made the illness up, needs disciplined.

When does the Republican Party, put in the majority by the Tea Party, plan to honor its commitment to halt the growth of the Federal monolith and bring the budget back into balance"?

Yes, this is the same child.  The hospital in MA (affiliated with Harvard) is "specializing" in somatoform disorders and this is not the first child they have decided to use as their test subject, she is the first child who has actually gained national attention because the parents decided to speak out... rather than be cowed by CPS.

I heard an interesting analysis of this earlier today - that when schools decided they could take your child from school for an abortion without parents approval then this started the rocky road of government taking over our children at all levels.
