Thousands of Syrian Islamists Arrive in New Jersey

February 23, 2014
By Sara Noble

The MSN reported a few days ago that hundreds of Syrians arrived in New Jersey to be “with their people” as opposed to coming here to be Americans. Originally, we were told only a hundred had been admitted. As it turns out, it’s thousands.

Thousands of Syrians, including Islamists, who come on visitor visas are being allowed to remain pending approval of their applications for asylum.

We know that the people being selected as “refugees” eligible for entry to the U.S. are not limited to Christians. “Christians are among the hundreds of Syrians,” according to the MSN, which means the Islamists are also among the refugees.

If we were screening people adequately and if we were not admitting Syrian refugees with terrorist ties, that would be one thing, but, unfortunately, that is not the case.

We do know that Islamists with terrorist connections are being admitted or will soon be.

In mid-January, it was announced that the U.S. planned to resettle 30,000 Syrian Islamists displaced by the Syrian War, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Their admission hinged on their “receiving exemptions from laws aimed at preventing terrorists from entering the country.”

One has to wonder why we have anti-terrorism laws at all.

It was soon after that when DHS changed the asylum law - using Mr. Obama’s pen and phone powers – and allowed Islamists with ties to terrorism to be considered for asylum. In other words, if the “refugee” Islamists provided “insignificant” or “limited” material support for terror groups” then they will not be discounted. The definition is deliberately vague and gives the Administration endless latitude in an area of immigration law that was known to have a 70% fraud rate prior to this loosening up of the law. We know there are many jihadis in the refugee camps.

We know that Muslim Brotherhood and jihadis are in the Syrian refugee camps. No one is denying that. We know that Mr. Obama has had and still has Muslim Brotherhood members in his Administration and in the DHS.  These could be the very people in charge of selecting who comes into the country.

The selections are being made quickly and we have to trust that an adequate screening is being done. MSN now reveals that that hundreds are arriving in New Jersey but as you read further on in the MSN story, one discovers it’s really thousands.

“The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has accepted 5,261 applications for temporary protected status from Syrians already in the U.S., approving 2,038 of those and denying 59; the rest are pending. Of those, 335 applications came from Syrians in New Jersey; 150 were approved, three denied and the rest are pending,” wrote the MSN.

In other words, there are more than 5,000 who came on visitor’s visas and who are being allowed to stay pending applications and few applications are rejected.

It’s not hundreds, it’s thousands who are here with no immediate end in sight.

We get little information about who and how many are coming into the country but we know that there were 150 acceptances and 3 rejections which is not reassuring.

MSN reported that “many arrive with no identification papers” and they “struggle to find work, afford housing…” In other words, they come here and are immediately given government assistance and we don’t even know who they are because they have no identification papers. It is reasonable to assume that the screening will be insufficient.

Humanitarian groups and far-left Democrat Senators like Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer and Patrick Leahy want us to take in 15,000. That could include a lot of jihadis considering we have an asylum policy with a more than 70% fraud rate and only 3 rejections out of every 150.

In addition, the MSN report said that the hero of their story, who was used to garner sympathy from the reader as opposed to giving a balanced account, has only received temporary status as if that meant something. In fact the U.S. almost never sends refugees back under these conditions.

The MSN picked a sympathetic man to write their story about, and of course they didn’t pick one of the Islamists. One must be a critical reader to get at the truth.

The United States should help Syrian refugees. However, we should not be admitting refugees with terrorist ties who are not properly screened but that is what is happening.
