Authorities Arrest Mexican Drug Kingpin Joaquin Guzman
By Mark Potter

Notorious Mexican drug king Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman has been apprehended in Mazatlan, Mexico, by U.S. and Mexican authorities, sources told NBC News.

Guzman was in a hotel with a female and was arrested without resistance, a senior law enforcement official said. There was no gunfire.

The apprehension comes after a four- to five-week DEA-led operation in collaboration with the Mexican Marines.

In addition to charges in Mexico, Guzman is also wanted in six districts in the United States. He is reputed to be the head of the Sinaloa drug cartel, Mexico's largest drug-trafficking organization.

When asked for reaction to the arrest, the official told NBC News, "This is huge."

When you realize Colorado is reporting $184 million in tax revenue from legalizing pot it boggles the mind how much money these drug lords must have amassed.

Will Obama make this guy Ambassador to Mejico? His qualifications are impeccable and he knows a lot more about the country he would go to than most of the recent Ambassadors.

All joking aside Boys and Girls, if you have not done so, go up to some of the usual websites (and you know which ones they are without me providing you with a link here) and take a look at some of the videos these Mexican drug cartels have put up of them chopping heads off with dull machetes.  The latest victims are luckier in that the masked cartel members have upgraded to using axes, but now they also chop the bodies into pieces.

Animals like Guzman and his henchmen are responsible for some of the goriest civilian murders and mutilations that make Muslim extremists cringe.  The people who are holding him will have a difficult time keeping him alive while he is in custody.  There is no telling how many people would gladly carve him like a pumpkin at Halloween just to watch him bleed to death.

Too bad he didn't resist arrest, just a little.

Chief, the problem is in this part of the country this is so much SSDD it hardly gets noticed.  Many who live directly on the border no longer cross, but this is still no defense, the cartels are on both sides.  The feds ignore the border as they've done for years.  If there's any doubt, go look at Texas' secession papers, one of the reason listed was "failure of the federal government to protect the citizens from wild Indians and Mexican banditry".  (IIRC)

I imagine it's the same anywhere across our vast southern border.  Thirty odd years ago you avoided Brownsville.  Then it shifted to Laredo, then to El Paso.  Now it's moving back to Laredo.

Same here in AZ a huge swath of our desert is posted by the feds off limits because the surrounding hills a full of lookout with rifles posted to protect their drug corridor.
