Never mind that every Republican, once past the Cruz show vote, opposed the increase on final passage.

Striking that these establishment mouthpieces expect anyone to believe this kind of BS any longer.  How often do we see this over and over, they vote to let the bills proceed to the floor where the Democrats have the numbers alone to pass them, and vote "against" the bill.  The real "vote" occurs when they vote to allow them to proceed.  But I guess that we aren't supposed to notice any of that.....

(And you would think that someone writing for the (once respectable) WSJ would be careful enough to not call a suspension an increase.)

But let's at least be able to laugh a bit on a Friday:

Mr. McConnell holds the same positions as Mr. Cruz on spending...

The fact is, the debt ceiling was going to pass.  The GOP Senate was attempting to pin the entire increase on them, to pin raising the debt on them.

Cruz, instead, queered that deal because, in his pettiness, he wanted to show up Senate leadership.

At some point he will learn that alienating those you'd later like to co-sponsor a bill comes with a very steep price.

If this is the case, I borrow from the Democrats:

What's the plan?

What does anything McConnell has done actually do other than empty threats?

At least Cruz understands procedure and mechanisms in that everything he does is an effort to stop this runaway train we call the federal government. What has McConnell done? Nothing! The debt continues to rise, Obamacare is still in place, and every other important, damaging piece of legislation the Democrats have pushed is still going strong.

So how, then, are McConnell and company going to get Reid to concede? The elections aren't until November, that plan didn't work last time, and even then, how are you going to contrast yourself from the Democrats if you continue to do everything you can to allow them to push their agenda?

The fact is, they don't think they can get Reid to concede. They are spineless. A lot of people apparently think the same. That's where Cruz is different. He never gives up. Eventually, though, if they want any hope of fixing this mess they are going to have to confront Reid and force him to concede.

What good is a contrast when 75% of America rejects it?  You suggest we try something hated by 80% of America to make the contrast starker?
