But he was warned that by doing what he did, the GOP would be blamed, and they were.

So how is that a good outcome? And how does that justify him harming his party's prospects?

Many rational people think Cruz risked predictable harm to his party, got no results.

Perception is reality in most areas of life.

NO! They were not. The blame was shared according to everything I've seen and the vindictive behavior of Obama,  with images of the park police trying to prevent WWII vets from entering their own memorial, will be remembered far longer than any of the rest of it!

Ted Cruz outed establishment Republicans who desperately NEEDED outing!

Ted Cruz single handedly made repeal of Obama care THE issue.

Ted Cruz made good on his promise s to those who elected him.

I'd say that's pretty impressive list of accomplishments for a freshman senator and Texas LOVES him for it!

I'll just repeat:

I don't give a flip about perception! I deal in facts!

That poll, just like any other poll, is COMPLETELY worthless unless accompanied by it's internals! Who did they call? When did they call (what hour of the day). etc because without that information it is impossible for anyone to know what it means!

The FACT is perceptions matter a lot, even if you don't give a flip. Perception = opinion.

The biggest problem the political right has now, is failure to move public opinion, in their favor.

Failure to persuade, to convince, to convert, etc.

There is more to politics than merely preaching to your own choir. And the entirety of the USA is not like Texas most of the time.

IS there one person on this thread who read the entire article to the end...... the last sentence says it all........

Ted Cruz filled a void, but the Republican establishment created the void.

The internals are right there:  500 voters, with an oversample of 388 Republicans.   In other words, with mostly Republicans, Texans opposed the shutdown and felt that Cruz's role in it damaged the state of Texas.

And, of course it did.  And he and his idiot father continue to.

Does it say it all?

That's like saying we've run out of water, so let's drink nuclear waste.

Well, at least we're not engaging in hyperbole.   **nononono*
