Sarah Palin is wading into the Texas governor’s race, urging voters to back Republican candidate Greg Abbott and even citing his recent controversial supporter.

“If he is good enough for Ted Nugent, he is good enough for me!” Palin wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.

Abbott, the state’s attorney general, is challenging Democrat Wendy Davis. He came under fire this week after inviting Nugent to campaign with him.In a recent interview, the musician called President Barack Obama a “subhuman mongrel.”

Abbott said Nugent would be joining him on the trail to expose Davis’s position on gun rights, and the musician appeared at an event Tuesday.

Palin wrote that Abbott is “a believer in the power of liberty and the need to defend our freedoms from the overreach of an out-of-control federal government.”

In the lengthy post, Palin also took the time to weigh in on another Texas race, praising Katrina Pierson, who is challenging Republican Rep. Pete Sessions for his House seat.

“Pierson is an emerging leader and important voice for the future of the grassroots conservative movement,” Palin said. Pierson will face off against Sessions in the GOP primary March 4.

Palin called Pierson “a feisty fighter for freedom” and, without naming Sessions, said he has “lost touch with the people of his district that he’s not even bothering to spend much time in Texas anymore.”

Pierson has also won the support of conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, who joined Pierson at a fundraiser in January, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Sessions got 58% of the vote in his last election. He has a lifetime CU rating of 97, and 96 for 2012.

What is wrong with him?

How high of a priority should replacing him have? At what cost in resources?

I suspect this is some of the Obama effect.

Pierson is an attractive black female.  From what I can learn about her, that's about her only qualification.

Pete Sessions is not going to lose this race.
