Weird..Face the Nation AND This Week talked about how Cruz doesn't have bench buddies at GOP lunches. Total coincidence, I'm sure.

Two networks independently bashing a conservative with the same talking point? What a shocker.

@amandacarpenter I'd throw up if I had to eat with most of the GOP delegation

That wouldn't happen after Chris Wallace completely exposed Republicans for trying to plant oppo on Cruz for Sunday shows...

Anyway, Cruz didn't come to Washington to make friends in the club. He came to stop the games and help save America. It's. all. good.

Indeed.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The media seems to think we are all too stupid to recognize talking points when we see them and this stuff is coming from the Democrats AND the GOPe.

great comments:

No bench buddies at GOP lunches? Looks to me and a gazillion others that Senator Cruz wears that as a badge of honor.

221 1

Senator Cruz needs no stanking badge! He is just plain old American AWESOME!

It's lonely at the top?

He's welcome at our lunch table, breakfast table, dinner table, just let us know...He's Welcome anytime.

P.S. The chef here is excellent

Here as well. And the wife does a smoking Cuban black bean soup.

If he's pissing people off, well... He's doing the job he promised the people that elected him. So, he's doing a GOOD JOB!!!!

It's also an example of the childish nature of the others up there, to ostracize him, if not bullying him. The problem with that childish tact, he's a man.

It sure would be a great thing, if we had more like him, as in replacing 99 others in the Senate.

Well, 97 others. Keep Mike Lee and give Rand Paul one more chance.

Rand Paul seems rather "go along to get along" with Mitch McConnell. Plus, he doesn't seem too far removed from the crazy, anarchistic ideas of Ron Paul.

So it's probably a good thing that he isn't Ted Cruz's "lunch buddy" or whatnot.

"1 more chance", as if RP JR. FAILED?! I don't think you get the fact he's a LIBERTARIAN Republican, though more moderate than his father.

PS. I will vote for him, despite being a Catholic SoCon, in the Presidential primary, as 1. he is the most electable tea partier next to Cruz, 2. I don't think Cruz fits the "natural-born citizen" requirement (this is one of the few places, under the current Constitution, where the average citizen can, in effect, overrule the Sup.Ct.) , and 3.desperate times call for desperate measures.
PPS. I think most, but not quite all, Tea Partiers should be reelected.

RINOs and Democrats hate Cruz only for the fact that, like many Americans, he likes America as it's always been, not the Socialist nanny state that the Dems are trying to change it to.

If all the GOP was like Cruz, I'd have some hope for the future of the USA.

I'd prefer to be a lunch buddy of Cruz than to be a lunch buddy of Obama/Reid/Pelosi's pets Boehner, Reid and Cantor.

There's an old saying in journalism that one source is a liar, two are possibly in cahoots to spread gossip, and three separate people, none of whom you would suspect of being in collusion-- if anything, ideally each unaware of what the other two said or even if they said anything at all, but at a minimum that they don't hang out in the same circles (yeah, right!)-- three people makes it a story. Well, Gwen Ifill covered this on Friday night, so officially it's a "story." And each presumably had their three sources in turn.

Look, the GOP have their reason for wanting to put this out there--"He's a bit, y'know, 'out there' for us, and we'd rather not engage with him in anything right now...", and the Dems have their reason-- "Look-- dissension in the GOP ranks in the Senate! Ted Cruz has been sent into exile by his own caucus!" The whole point is that they both expect he will be rather vocal in the weeks and months to come on a number of issues, so they want everyone to know, and for the MSM to report it, that TC is like unto "a voice crying out in the wilderness."

I just tell the truth, and that makes some people laugh, to paraphrase Harry Truman on the subject of "hell." But the rule of sourcing thing is pretty accurate. At a minimum you always look to see, if you've heard something from more than one person, if there's any reason to think they're both trying to sell you the same story by both sticking to the script. Three people is a bit harder to pull off, just on a game-of-telephone basis, especially if, with a bit of digging, you can't come up with a plausible way they could have cooked it all up, and so you figure that what you've heard is probably right, in the broad strokes.

Sometimes you go with one (with corroboration), sometimes with two, if you can't see the connection (a Dem and a Repub both say the same thing, for different reasons), but three will usually work.

Of course, that's how journalists USED to do it. Y'know, back when they weren't willing stenographers and copier machines.

TC like "a voice crying out in the wilderness."...puts him in good company ...IMO!

Which brings to mind another old saying:
    Once is happenstance,
    Twice is coincidence,
    Three times is enemy action.

His "colleagues" have spent plenty of time stabbing him in the back since his arrival in Washington...he doesn't need to sit next to them for lunch and give them an easy target

I'd rather have lunch with Jeffrey Dahmer than the GOP club. He would serve fewer carcasses.

Can't call it "reporting" anymore...just "repetition" of whatever the White House wants as "news".

    Joseph Goebbels would be proud!

Oh how middle school of them to put things in terms of lunch buddies. Eating with scum doesn't excite me. If I were Cruz, I'd be eating in my office.

Would you sit across the lunch table from THAT??

So telling the 7% of the population that still trusts the msm that both parties can't stand Ted Cruz is supposed to hurt his popularity somehow?

Oh you mean he's not all buddy buddy with establishment R's that have helped to wreck the nation?

It's bad enough the media scrutinizes and attacks Cruz, but what the republicans are doing to him is so much worse. They act like kids who ignore the new kid in school. They are afraid he will be the nominee in spite of their being in cahoots to choose their own candidate for us. Even more so, if he would win, that would break their itty bitty hearts, and they would be forced to move to the right, and pretend none of their insults ever happened.

No one in the little clubhouse called the senate want their cushy boat rocked.

Remember when Limbaugh referred to Mario Cumuo as "Mario the Pious"?
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

It's bad enough when the MSM use DNC talking points, but then they use stupid or peculiar expressions like "bench buddies," making the collusion even more obvious.
