King blasts 'morons' in Republican Party

By Mario Trujillo

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) defended Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Wednesday after the House passed a clean debt-limit bill that raised the ire of conservatives.

King branded as “morons” many conservatives in the GOP caucus who consistently oppose any effort to pass the debt limit, asserting they are the same faction that led to the government shutdown last year.

“This is the same group that back in September and October went into a government shutdown that everybody knew was a disaster,” King said on MSNBC. “They ended up looking like morons following Ted Cruz over the cliff.”

King had been one of the most vocal critics of the strategy that led to the government shutdown last year. He said the Speaker tried everything to get appease his members Tuesday.

However, many of them didn’t have the "guts" to vote on any proposal to raise the borrowing limit, King said.

“John tried everything,” he said. "I was so disgusted with people in the Republican conference. So many got up and said they knew they had to pass the debt ceiling, but they didn’t have the guts to vote for it. And they wouldn’t vote for anything. And that’s why he had to do what he did.”

The House late Tuesday passed the bill that suspends the debt limit until March of next year on a 221-201 vote. Democrats largely supported the bill, while 28 Republicans crossed over as well.

The vote came after GOP leaders decided they did not have the Republican votes on a proposal to tie the restoration of military pension cuts to the debt ceiling.

What makes Peter King so angry

By Mario Trujillo

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) expressed anger Wednesday that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is slated to file a lawsuit against President Obama and other officials over National Security Agency surveillance.

King, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, has been a defender of the program and said revelations by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden have hurt the country.

“I think that has really hurt the country,” King said of the leaks on MSNBC. “That is why I am so angry that Rand Paul is bringing this lawsuit today.”

King said publicly revealed information about the NSA program is just a sliver of the information that Snowden collected.

“But in addition to that, the vast amounts of other information that is sensitive information, classified, top-secret information involving our military that has been made available is really disgraceful,” he said.

While not naming Paul directly, King questioned whether the GOP really wanted people in the party who have applauded Snowden.

“And let's just say as Republicans ... do we really want people in our party somehow saying they don’t know whether he is a patriot or not? ... Who actually put him in the same classification as the director of national intelligence?”

Paul has said Snowden broke the law but could potentially be defined as a whistle-blower after a judge ruled last year that the NSA program that collects metadata on millions of U.S. citizens appeared unconstitutional.

Paul has also said Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has broken the law by lying to Congress and should resign.

Paul (R-Ky.), a potential GOP White House contender, is slated to file a class action lawsuit Wednesday against President Obama, the National Security Agency and a host of others involved in the surveillance program.

He had been gearing up for month for the suit and expects the case to eventually make its way to the Supreme Court.

King is a blowhard that has in the past called for the impeachment of Obama amongst other things.

Me thinks he is jelly he did not do Rand's idea first.

When does the Republican Party, put in the majority by the Tea Party, plan to honor its commitment to halt the growth of the Federal monolith and bring the budget back into balance"?

Could well! If not there sure is an echo in here!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
