I wouldn't even walk on that road. What is with those people laughing?  Is that nervous laughter or are they really that oblivious to the danger?

Yep, nervous. Those people are scared out of their skulls. But, when you get in a situation like that, there is really no choice. You're there. And this is it. You may as well have fun with it. What else is there?
