Judge: Suspected Felon/Seahawks Fan Can Leave State for Super Bowl

By Andrew Johnson

A Washington man accused of a felony after a drunken high-speed police chase will get the chance to watch his Seattle Seahawks play in Sunday’s Super Bowl, as long as he wears an electronic-monitoring device. Police apprehended suspect Shaun Goodman at gunpoint after he led authorities through a 100-mile-per-hour chase in his Ferrari in Olympia, Wash. last month.

On Thursday, a superior court judge approved a court petition by Goodman’s lawyer requesting that his client be allowed to leave the state for “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see his hometown team” play in the Superbowl, but only under one condition: He must keep on his SCRAM bracelet, an electronic device that determines whether he has consumed alcohol. Additionally, Goodman cannot drive while the case is pending, so his lawyer said he will takes taxis to get to the game, according to the Olympian.

Goodman left for the game in New Jersey on Friday, and will return to Washington on Monday.
