Ted Cruz Raises The Question: Do GOP Leaders Want Dems To Keep Senate?

I say Senator Ted Cruz “raises,” not asks the question because he doesn’t pose the question as a serious one. Instead, he simply points out that the Republicans are making decisions and doing actions that are going to hurt them in the November elections so that Democrats might keep the Senate.

From Breitbart:

Cruz questioned how establishment Republicans unilaterally caving to Democrats on everything from the farm bill to the budget to the debt ceiling and more could think amnesty is a good idea at this time.

"Right now, Republican leadership in both chambers is aggressively urging members to stand down on virtually every front: on the continuing resolution, on the budget, on the farm bill, on the debt ceiling,” Cruz said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News on Thursday.

He continued:

They may or may not be right, but their argument is that we should focus exclusively on Obamacare and on jobs. In that context, why on earth would the House dive into immigration right now? It makes no sense, unless you're Harry Reid. Republicans are poised for an historic election this fall--a conservative tidal wave much like 2010. The biggest thing we could do to mess that up would be if the House passed an amnesty bill--or any bill perceived as an amnesty bill--that demoralized voters going into November. Rather than responding to the big-money lobbying on K Street, we need to make sure working-class Americans show up by the millions to reject Obamacare and vote out the Democrats. Amnesty will ensure they stay home.

Cruz added that granting amnesty now—while wrong in his opinion at any time—would ensure Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid remains in his position in after the 2014 elections.

So if that is what is going to happen due to Republican decisions and Republican strategy, then why insist that the Republicans are doing it by accident?

If the Republicans are doing things that bring about foreseeable consequences, then the most natural conclusion to draw is that they want those consequences. They aren’t moving blindly; they have an objective.

The objective seems to include leaving the Senate in the hands of the Democrats—just what the Democrats desperately want.

This is prima facie evidence that the Republican establishment finds the Tea Party more threatening than the Democrats.

The Republican establishment is totally big government, that's the only way you can garner a lifetime career on the taxpaper's dime.

The Tea Party, libertarians and many conservatives despise big government and when given the chance will slice and dice the behemoth government to small pieces.  Lifetime careers in Washington will be adversely affected.

It doesn't take a genius to see that people that believe the way I do are a clear and present threat to not only the Democrat Party, but the Republican Party as well.

This is what we are up against, so we need to rid ourselves of any thought that getting an establishment Republican in office over an establishment Democrat is the lesser of two evils.  They both want the same thing, and they are willing to not only "reach across the aisle" - but they are willing to bed down with the other side too.

That explains why both parties are against the Tea Party, doesn't it?

Yes and even some on this site.
