Your daddy's democratic party is dead

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Love! love! love this little vignette. I remember first awakening to my particular political viewpoint (thank you, Rush Limbaugh!).

But I also remember feeling embarrassed by it. Because at that time everyone in my sphere was liberal by default. No thought was ever given to expressing "conservative" thought. What was that? It was completely alien to me. Until Rush I hadn't given thought to it. I assumed the normal state of being was whatever Walter Cronkite said it was.

I still shy away from political discussions at the work place. But, if I'm asked specifically my opinion, I will not hesitate to give it.
NeverTrump wants to deny you YOUR voice, YOUR presidential choice.

My family has been democratic for many generations, I being the maverick.  I wasn't always conservative but over time I looked at what democrats were doing to my country and came to the conclusion I was supporting the wrong side.  I do have a cousin who is also conservative but that is it on both sides of the family.  My brother is such a liberal (socialist/communist) he sees Obama as a MODERATE. :thud:
