Richard Sherman & Michael Crabtree Mic'd Up .
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:11:01 pm »
After watching this how could anyone blame Richard Sherman for going off on Crabtree seconds after being slapped in the face by him?    Unless being allowed to cool down and count to 10 as they say,  I’d be wanting to tell the world Crabtree is sore loser and jerk to.   The person acting like a “thug and a villain” is not Sherman.

Like one of the youtube commenters said, "this couldn't have worked out better for Sherman".
Last year he was only known to serious fans mainly in the Seattle area, now he's a household name, was pushed into the top 10 in jersey sales this week, and his endoresemet stock has just skyrocketed.    -  all because of 18 seconds.

Give Crabtree the same benefit of doubt, that Sherman is getting.

BOTH were amped up with excitement, emotions, so Crabtree stuck his hand into his face--so what?

That is exactly the point us Seattle fans are trying to make.   The whole thing has been blown way out of proportion, and it’s still not going away.   Because of 18 seconds the media and social media has put the villain tag on us.   The Seahawks have never been portrayed as villains, and being called that leaves a very sour taste in our mouth.   This is the franchise given its first breath by the  “good guys”  with names like Jim Zorn and Steve Largent.
But in the broader picture  of things, maybe this new found notoriety  may be a good thing. At least people are talking about us.   Can’t say that about the 2006 Super Bowl appearance where it was a Steelers love fest, -  a stadium where everyone was waving yellow terrible towels, and little notice was given to the team they were playing.

I have a soft spot for Crabtree.  My late husband and I used to like watching him when he played for Texas Tech.

Have give this some 'serious' thought...and come away with this:

Sherman and Crabtree were....in THEIR minds (and the only ones that mattered at the time)...were in a WAR, with the Super Bowl opportunity went to the winner, and the loser nobody will remember in another few years.

The 49er's had only thrown in Sherman's direction ONCE the entire game.  That there is an indication of either the respect they had for him...or the loss in confidence of Crabree, their primary receiver.

So...it came down to about 40 seconds to history or the agony of defeat, etc..

They decided to test Sherman and he could have ended up...despite playing a tremendous game personally up to that point...a "goat" moniker.

Taking all this pressure he was exposed to, and the hard work and dedication it took to get to that second in time.....you have to give him a complete pass.

NOTE:  What I didn't like is his recent comment that he thought "thug" was a synonym for the "N" word, and sometimes it bothered him.  SHERMAN....play put the blame on those that have given "thug" a bad name.   :patriot:

This 49 fan posting on Sherman's Facebook says it best.

"Honestly, I'm a Niner fan and I think the media is blowing your post game interview wayyyyy out of proportion. You're not a thug, everyone knows that. You are the best corner in the game, the stats prove that. They are just looking for something to talk about. Great deflection and good luck in the super bowl. Best Secondary in the game vs the best Offense in the game. It's going to be a lot of fun to watch!!"
