Remember when Michelle Obama went on that trip to Africa? Well, apparently she brought a couple extra “staff members” with her.
Judicial Watch, a government watch-dog organization, has discovered documents that show the first lady falsified expenses and personnel while on her 2011 vacation to Africa, including listing her two daughter, Sasha and Malia, as “senior staff” members.
The trip was originally estimated at $300,000 for the flight and crew alone. But many became suspicious when the aircraft’s bill came in at $424,000.
When Judicial Watch requested the transportation records under the Freedom of Information Act, the Obama administration refused to produce them. The organization was then forced to sue in order to obtain the information.
“This trip was as much an opportunity for the Obama family to go on a safari as it was a trip to conduct government business,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “This junket wasted tax dollars and the resources of our overextended military. No wonder we had to sue to pry loose this information.”
While Michelle’s falsified documents undoubtedly prove there’s corruption within the Obama administration, it’s unlikely she’ll ever be held accountable for her actions.
