A better question is what are the minimum wage workers doing to earn more? What increased value are they bringing to the business to earn it?

I agree. The minimum wage is BS, and people earning less than the minimum wage is reprehensible.

Families who make minimum wage most likely receive government aid in other areas. A friend, who is a single mom with two kids, was making $10 per hour, and received government benefits, but I'm not sure to what extent. An increase will only take away some of their benefits.

On the other hand, if they aren't getting benefits, then they are not the main wage earner. Their spouses make more money, or they live at home with their parents. Other young people pool their resources, and share apartments, preferring to not live alone.

Lumping so-called poor people is foolish, particularly the self-imposed poor.
