"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

I like the idea. It's a bit like Big Brothers and Sisters - which is a totally worth while thing to get involved in if you have the time and patience to cope with it. Many don't.

Part of being a parent - or a scout leader, or a teacher - is not saying "No." It is teaching the kids how to say "no" gracefully. That actions have consequences.

The idea is not new. Since 1962 many protestant churches have had the Royal Rangers  a church-based mentoring ministry for future men. I attended their pow-wows back in the 1960s, and quite frankly I had more fun with them than I did in Cub Scouts.
A nation that turns away from prayer will ultimately find itself in desperate need of it. :Jonathan Cahn
