I have read several articles that women fare better than men because more women than men are in the healthcare/social field. I guess the numbers change according to who is counting.

The medical/social professions' high paying jobs are open to EDUCATED people.  Once you get through that number I would guess the article is true.  I used to work with troubled teens and one of the comments I frequently heard from the girls was "I'm just going to have a couple kids and live off welfare."  Sad, but true.
