And that's it.  No surprise whatsoever.  Knew it would be the politically correct choice.

Best Motion Picture - Drama
Winner: 12 Years a Slave

Better this than the Oprah movie.

Ronan slams Allen with Globes ‘molest’ tweet
By Reed Tucker, NY Post
January 13, 2014 | 12:02am

Maybe it’s best that Woody Allen didn’t show up to collect his lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes. The director wasn’t getting much love Sunday night, despite the accolade.

Many in Hollywood appear to find his marriage to Soon-Yi Previn — the adopted daughter of his Allen’s former girlfriend, Mia Farrow — still controversial.

When his name was announced at the beginning of the telecast by co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, many in the room appeared to sit on their hands. Only light applause was heard.

Later in the show as the Allen tribute got underway, Farrow tweeted, “Nite all.”

Ronan Farrow, the son of Mia and Allen, also took a shot at his father on Twitter, writing, “Missed the Woody Allen tribute – did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?”

In 1992, Farrow’s daughter Dylan claimed Allen had touched her inappropriately. The resulting court case was eventually dropped.

Mia Farrow recently suggested Frank Sinatra could be Ronan’s real father.

One person who is still on Allen’s side is Diane Keaton, his former girlfriend and leading lady in “Annie Hall.”  She accepted Allen’s award on his behalf, giving a kooky speech that lauded the writer-director’s “unforgettable female characters.”

Keaton concluded by singing the Girl Scout staple ”Make New Friends” for no apparent reason.

Thank you for putting up this thread!

Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television
Winner: Elisabeth Moss for "Top of the Lake"

On my list to binge-watch during the winter monthsr.  Currently watching Lilyhammer, which is a Fargoish type of dark comedy series.  Pretty good series, not great, but it takes a lot of funny swipes at European style socialism as the series setting is in Norway.

Winner: Robin Wright for "House of Cards"

Good. She is VERY good in this series.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
Winner: Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine

This was a weird (Woody Allen) movie, I thought, but Blanchett was amazing in it.
