GoPro Camera Attached to Crab Net Shows What Really Goes on Underwater
Jan. 7, 2014 12:18am Oliver Darcy

A video showing what happens when you attach a GoPro camera to a crab net has gone viral on the Internet after being uploaded to YouTube over the weekend.

“Attached a Gopro to a crab net, surprised by what actually goes on down there,” the video’s description said.

Images captured by the sports camera show fish swarming around the net, picking at the bait that was placed in the center of the net. Eventually a few crabs enter the trap and the net is lifted out of the water so the crabs can be extracted.

At the time of publication, the video enjoyed just over 380,000 views.

That was really awesome.  It's amazing what we get to see now that we have good cameras that are really inexpensive.  Used to be you'd need at least $5k of camera gear to get shots that clear with that sort of color.  It'd be interesting to grab a bunch of cameras like that, connect them to some sort of battery-driven light, then drop them off the coast to see what you can see.
